Dean has been effective in his Committee assignments in addressing important issues facing Ulster County.
Public Works Committee:
- Worked on consolidation of Highway and Bridges and Buildings & Grounds which will encourage efficient operation and save tax dollars.
Environmental Committee:
- Worked on creating a Department of the Environment to oversee all Environmental issues affecting Ulster County.
- Passed an improved recycling law.
- Supported creating a Global Warming Advisory Committee.
Budget Gap Committee:
- Praised for bipartisan approach in helping solve county budget problems.
Health Insurance Task Force:
- Looking for ways to reduce County Health insurance premiums.

Although a County Legislator is a part time position, Dean has been effective in interacting between tax payers and the County to make County Government work for you.
